Grover Beach Announces Festive Fall Activities

GB Fall Activities

The City of Grover Beach Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for a season of fun community activities to mark the beginning of the holidays. With friendly contests and prizes on the line ranging from bragging rights to a full Thanksgiving feast, everyone can participate in sharing the fall holiday spirit.

“Our Parks and Recreation staff have been hard at work planning exciting events and activities for the community to enjoy this fall,” said Grover Beach Mayor Jeff Lee. “With so much to be grateful for in Grover Beach, I look forward to celebrating together with residents and visitors.”

To kick off the fall, residents can join in the fun at the Annual Carved Pumpkin Contest and Halloween Activities on Friday, October 29 at 5 p.m at Ramona Garden Park. This event, sponsored by the Grover Beach Rotary Club, will include “Trunk Or Treat” bags with goodies and safety equipment from the Grover Beach Police Department and activities and games created and run by Cal Poly student volunteers. Residents should also bring their carved or decorated pumpkin to the event for a chance to win fun prizes based on age categories. Businesses can enter to win bragging rights, and children six and under can enter decorated pumpkins (carved pumpkins will not be accepted from little ones). This event will follow all applicable COVID-19 State and local health orders.

The fun continues into the Halloween weekend with residents encouraged to come up with their most creative, spookiest, most whimsical costumes for entry in the City’s virtual costume contest. With categories for family friendly costumes or adults, children and even pets, there are several prizes up for grabs and fun to be had for all! To enter, submit your photos and/or videos via email to GBParks@GroverBeach.org by October 30. Please note that photos/videos may be used on the City’s social media and other communications channels. Winners will be announced on Halloween, October 31 and will receive gift certificates and prizes from local businesses.

In celebration of Thanksgiving, Grover Beach is bringing back a new tradition established in 2020 to cultivate reflection, thankfulness and sharing among community members. Residents are encouraged to jot down what they’re thankful for this season and submit it by email to GBParks@GroverBeach.org by 5 p.m. on November 18. Accompanying photos are encouraged. Three winners will be announced on Friday, November 19 ahead of the November 25 Thanksgiving holiday. The grand prize entry will win a dinner for four from local restaurant The Spoon Trade while the second and third place winners will receive a Cornish game hen and Thanksgiving dessert.

Grover Beach residents can find out more information about these and other future holiday events through a mailer that will soon be sent to each household. Residents can also follow the City of Grover Beach on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Nextdoor for updates.
